Great Gang Members (2 Women), Keeping it Light.

I’ve been up to my ears in prison workshop administration chores, readying my humble abode for winter, and general depression for this past month. I’m not ready for snow. Plain and simple. But, just to get up on the step a little higher let me introduce a gang I joined recently. These gangsters keep me happy and positive because they have strength and fully positive attitudes.
First there’s Nina who is from a tough neighborhood and it shows in her posture and bearing. To look into her eyes is to look into the history of humans back to the first fire and the first animal skin. Nina is all emotion and ferocity. I suggest never looking into her eyes. Your heart will be cooked right after you fall in love.
Then there is Tracy, nearly the polar opposite of Nina. She has a similar mystery and stance and appears to be approachable, but Tracy is uncompromising. Caution is required in her presence. She is quiet and open; in appearance only. She has strict demands of loyalty and trust. Her courage is drawn from high tensile steel. She is the embodiment of the “Tender Trap”. And she captures hearts.
Both of these ruffians can smile and speak nicely and then it’s over before you know it. I don’t know what a Femme Fatale is but I’ll bet if I looked it up there they would be, in living color. Luckily, I am in their favor and presently not in any danger of being harmed. I only need to walk a fine line and keep my mouth shut. I am the junior member of the gang. Keep my head down and my mouth shut.

I’ve been writing goodbye notes to people in my past life. Those are fun for they give me a release of old dislikes that I never completely shut the door on, or they allow me to express my admiration and gratitude for those I’ve really loved at any level. I think you should try it. I’m goind to continue but not today.

Here is something that came to me as I was not cleaning my house recently. Oh, by the way. I’ve been stacking firewood for the past week. It keeps me honest and helps me to move around and keep the muscles and ticker in shape. I do less than an hour a day. Back to the thing that came to me recently.

There is a children’s game with a spoken part that has been running around my brainpan. I’d like to share it with you.
Imagine a child leaning against telephone pole or one of those antique light stanchions with the gas light on top that the municipal worker would come around at dusk and ignite to light the gas jets inside the glass cover. The kid has got their arm folded across their eyes and leaning on that arm against the pole to keep from observing what is going on behind. A small group of other kids are chanting this:
“Bore a hole,
Bore a hole,
Right through the
Sugar bowl,
Guess who
Placed the
Magic
D.
O.
T.
DOT!”
As this is going on one of the children traces a circle round and round on the kid’s back, who is leaning against the pole, in time with the words. This is fun; I’ve done it millions of times in Dorchester, Massachusetts over a hundred years ago, it seems.
Children playing

At the point of “DOT!” one of the engaged children in the group will take one of their fingers and jab it into the center of the circle area of the leaning kid’s back. At that point the leaning kid turns around and tries to guess which child was the “DOT” doer. Of course some of the little ones in the group are giggling uncontrollably while the kid scans their faces to get a clue to who is the culprit. Can you imagine how much time we kids spent playing this?
Great stuff, good memories! “Bore a hole, bore a hole…”.

O.K. Have a great day. I am going to my men’s group tonight. That is nothing like “Bore a Hole”.

Peace out,
Gentle George

  1. “Run!”
    Where?
Oh, hell! let’s get out of here!
    “Turk! Turk! I’m shot!”
