As I am left-handed, I recall reading this a long time ago. It comes from
“Les Misérables”. When the peasants went to the barriers with muskets and other tools of rebelion they took positions convenient to the weapons they had. Hugo used this passage to describe what factor ruled where they placed themselves.
“The left-handed are precious; they take places which are inconvenient for the rest.”
