FALL BACK!
Stated in an urgent communique,
The idea is to help the general population
To gain an hour of daylight and to not feel the lag
Of time and absence of sun exposure.
Industrialists with nothing to occupy
Their time or with a deep love for golf or
Collecting bugs decided to interfere with
Agrarians who pretty will got along just
Fine with waking with the birds and going to
Bed the same way.
If the earth were flat or cylindrical instead of
Spherical things would be different but I shan’t
Get into that; I simply do not have the energy,
Too many things to think of to determine how
Different the sun would appear to us with the
Axial tilt and all,
It’s bad enough trying to figure out the
Best and most equitable way to share the
Sun light and all its attendant benefits and disasters,
I’m almost sorry that I brought this up.
Personally, I believe that the male population
Tried to improve something that couldn’t be,
I’m almost certain women would never consider
The length of day to be a problem just because it
Varied and slipped about like a loose pair of pants
On a brisk walk along a wind-swept shore,
Instead of enjoying the rich circulation of blood
Through our bodies and the view through teary
Eyes from the wind someone just needed to mess
Around. I say “Fuggetaboutit”. Just “Fuggetaboutit”.
